Wrist watch Casio G-Shock GW-B5600 Modded
Description
These watches are manufactured in plastic cases (resin) and the plastic can often crack or the pin holes fail. That's why I converted it into an all-metal "screwback" case. Now this super rugged and near indestructible watch is even more rugged and indestructible! Like Monero.
All functions work: Bluetooth sync, Find My Phone, MB6 (Multiband 6) radio sync, Solar charging, etc. The watch is completely operational. It has water resistance as seen in the picture, immersed in water. Ships with plastic adapters for regular 22mm straps or Nato/zulu straps. You can remove them and replace them with a G-Shock strap (16mm).
Instead of a TN LCD matrix, I mounted an STN LCD matrix, which has 180° viewing angle and is only mounted on more expensive GWM models.
Without Bluetooth or MB6 sync the watch is accurate up to about 2 seconds per month. One interesting thing is that you can engrave whatever you want on the steel back cover, as its blank!
The watch comes with some of its additional equipment, mostly remnants from various modding:
- box from the original GW-B5600BC-1B that this watch is based on (no receipt as it was bought overseas)
- screen protector (already fitted)

- plastic adapters from 16mm to 22mm (I prefer plastic - better to break the adapter than something else)

- rubber one-piece strap - no pins required, frame integrated
- black plastic strap (G-Shock size) + bezel/frame - you can see in the pictures,
- army green strap (G-Shock size) + bezel/frame - you can see in the pictures,
- light brown plastic strap (G-Shock size) + bezel/frame - you can see in the pictures,
- plastic strap in transparent color (G-Shock size)
- two-part green cloth strap that is directly attached to 16mm pins (it is in the pictures)
- one free universal watch pin removal tool (not pictured)

Bluetooth link on G-shocks has only a handful of functions:
- sync the time
- edit watch settings, like: alarms, timers, world time, key sound, etc.
- "find my phone" which makes your phone ring so you can find it
- mark a map location in the app, triggered by clock sync
You can use official Casio Watches app on Android and iOS, but it requires to sign in with your email, so it's not that privacy friendly in that regard.
