Madrid 80s style retro skateboard custom design fly wheels cadillac trucks USED
Description
Here is a complete Madrid 80s style retro skateboard. The deck was made from a Madrid Build-A-Board blank, the retro single-kick mold. The trucks and wheels were a retro kit that Madrid used to sell. The rails are Madrid Bat Rails. Copers are Madrid. The grip tape is Madrid Thumbcutter (super rough). The bearings and spacers came stock with the kit. The non-Madrid accessories include a Powell Peralta Tailbone, a generic nose guard, and some wedged rubber risers (to increase the turning radius). Here are some more specs on the parts:
Deck: Madrid Build-A-Board blank uncut, cut to these specs...
length: 31.5"
width: 9.6125"
nose: 4"
tail: 7"
wheelbase: 15.75"
Has been custom wood-burned with some goofy art (the JFA one turned out the best). Also has Bat Rails, Powell Tailbone, and generic nose guard, all mounted with t-nuts, the old-school way. Gripped with Madrid Thubmcutter, beware, it bites.
Trucks: Cadillac Retro, 8.75" axle. Bent pivot, old school style. Barely turns by modern standards. Kingpins have been epoxied to prevent wiggle. Copers have been epoxied to keep them on when actually skating (are these meant for display purposes only? side note...). Custom engraved hangers and baseplates. Hangers have been faced. Bushings have been custom dyed. A few minor grind marks on the copers, otherwise in great condition. Mounted on rubber wedge risers to increase turning radius.
Wheels: Madrid Fly Wheels 60mm 90a. I bought these as solid green, but they have since been dyed multiple times for a psychedelic punk effect. Barely broken in otherwise, the tread is still on the riding surface. Includes stock ABEC 7 bearings and spacers.
This has been used but not abused by a single owner. It is in great shape, ready to rip. If you're looking for a retro ride, this will scratch that itch. Otherwise, if you're used to modern skateboards, keep in mind that this will seem heavy and relatively unresponsive. It's amazing what people used to ride 40 years ago. Overall, I find the wheels a bit harder than the advertised 90a. It's a bit rougher in the streets and the ditches than it should be. Seems better in bigger skateparks and best on wood ramps. Just like the 80s, makes sense in a way.
