After it's been over a year, I finally decided to sit down and write a new blog post. I had asked my community what they wanted me to write about and I figured I'll start off with my own journey of getting into opsec and the darknet, then branch off from there. I come across as a bit of a lunatic talking about it, but that's more or less the norm in the privacy community rather than the exception. Personally, I tend to work more on technical posts and entries similar to what can be found on the knowledge base, however I will post some more personal, humanities, and philosophy related posts every once in a while. It all ties together in the end; nothing exists in isolation.

Reposting it here for discussion should anyone want to leave any comments or post their own story and how they started off getting into opsec, privacy, security, or even Monero.

Although not at the same degree, I can relate to the start of your journey. I realized i cannot say whatever i want in the internet and someone decided to harass me personally. At that moment I understand just how easy people can do harm to me just because they felt like it and my information is out in the open. Never again I said, and here somehow i ended up in the privacy community.

I know you should never relax with Opsec but for everyday interaction i only take fundamental precaution and i think that is enough to defend against malicious people who intend harm to us. But if the threat is malicious organization then we talking different kind of discipline and commitment to be made which being lax is not tolerated.

I miss the old days of the internet when it was the wild west and yet there wasn't anywhere near the kind of harassment you face nowadays. Without a doubt, there were threats and I myself ended up hacked before, but it was mostly for the sake of curiosity or even fun. People didn't go out on witch hunts and resorted to incessant stalking and swatting attempts. The internet has made it easy for malicious people to completely destroy people's lives and their livelihoods. It's just vile and disgusting.

Also, to whoever tipped me 0.1 XMR; Thank you! It's the first donation I have received in nearly 2 years and I will cherish it.
