And speaking about NitroEggs itself. Maybe they should raise price for egg. I don't know exactly about prices in Serbia, but I've just opened random video on youtube from supermarket, and saw pack of 10 eggs costs 2.23$, so ~0.25$ per egg. But it's egg from large "industrial" farm, NittroEggs looks more like "eco farm" which usually have higher prices due to lower volume. With 0.25$ per egg person will get 9.93$ per month instead of current 2.27. Huge difference.

Hi, NitroEggs founder here. Thanks for the analysis, genuinely. It used our published numbers and it exposed a real problem, not with the math but with how unclear our site was.
The analysis assumes a hen share stops existing after 15 months. It does not. Shares receive payouts for the entire laying life of the hen. The 15 month schedule only applies to the optional early exit buyback for people who want out before the hen has paid for itself. If you simply hold, you collect your share of egg revenue for as long as the hen produces. Break even on payouts alone is around 20 months at current estimates and everything after that is profit. That was not stated clearly on the site and that is on me. I already explained this on our Twitter and the site text will follow.
On the Ponzi comparison. Payouts are funded exclusively from egg sales, not from new backers money. That is exactly why the numbers look small and unsexy. Around 0.75 dollars per hen per month is what eggs actually earn after feed. A Ponzi promises more than the underlying asset can produce. We publish exactly what it produces, feed costs included, and the farm runs on a public 24/7 camera.
On egg pricing, fair point. The 0.15 price is set low on purpose. At this stage the priority is that every single egg gets sold, even to wholesale buyers, so payouts go out every cycle without interruption. As we break into direct retail, realized prices should go up, and since backers receive 50% of net revenue, payouts rise together with them.
