Facebook Marketplace censors me for enabling P2P parallel economies

Facebook censored my listing because I offer XMR as a payment option.

I buy & sell on AnonBazaar, but I also buy & sell a lot of junk on Facebook marketplace in my local area.

In an effort to increase XMR adoption and earn XMR/Crypto, I always put a note in the description of my listing that I accept XMR and I even offer a discount to people willing to pay for items with crypto.

Most are not crypto people and don't even know how to buy it, so I offer one piece of advice as a long shot to see if someone will bite:

"Discount for Monero/Bitcoin payers. If you don't have any crypto, you can use cash at a Bitcoin ATM and I will eat all the fees for you!"

Unfortunately anything crypto related usually comes off as a scam, especially regarding Bitcoin ATMs considering their prevalence in crytpo scams to trick grandma out of her money.

Only once have I ever gotten someone to pay me in crypto. Some guy bought using Eth. Not XMR, but still cool nonetheless.

Today I got a message that one of my listings had been moderated by Facebook. The rule they said I broke was:

"Documents, Currency, and Financial Instruments
Commerce content may not promote the buying, selling, or trading of real or fake documents, currency, financial instruments or virtual currency."

https://www.facebook.com/policies_center/commerce/documents_currency_and_financial_instruments

Apparently Facebook's interpretation of buying & selling "virtual currency" includes even just accepting it as a payment method.

The ironic part is that I consider Monero the only REAL currency. If anything, USD is the "virtual" currency. Fiat money, numbers on a screen, backed by nothing but air.

I submitted an appeal to Facebook, we'll see what they say.

Any updates on what they said?
I haven't been on that site for years

Try including a picture with that discount info instead of writing it on the description, maybe that would help AI not detect it easly

You will find that this was done by some AI bot and Meta's customer service is non-existent.

Meta operates like the future we are all being plunged into, AI bots crawling what we do, banning us from services without just cause and then being left with no way to appeal.

If people are picking up the things you sell you can always mention XMR when you are face-to-face.

If you DM me I'll even send you some XMR on boarding cards: https://anonbazaar.com/listing/AgAp

Nope, they haven't replied to me about my appeal. I expect that they probably never will. As MoneroMaster pointed out, support is non-existent.

Yes, I will probably put the notice about XMR in an image to avoid censorship in the future. Good idea.

Interestingly, Craigslist asks me to "verify" my post by providing a phone number verification if I mention crypto in the description or in one of the images which they are presumably OCRing.

This surprises me considering the crypto friendly stance Craigslist has since they specifically list it as an option when creating a new post.

I refuse the phone verification on principle, but I guess it is better than outright removing listings.

I did not know this. Thank you for the heads-up.

I confess, I sell a lot of stuff on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace, but never mention "Crypto" because I fear it will freak out the Normies.

I fear they won't even contact me because even mentioning "Crypto" will trigger their mainstream media brainwashing.

It's amazing seeing Facebook survived this long. It's, by far, the worst social media site ever done. Literally everybody who actively uses Facebook knows how easy is getting banned for doing absolutely nothing wrong because of their AI mistakes, or being banned for reporting actual infractions (e.g. scam posts, etc). And their ironically terrible administration who perfectly allows AI massive slops, disinformation, and porn ads, and a very long etc. We don't even need to bother mentioning his long track of disrespecting users' rights and actual crimes (some of them even got 'the Zuck' on judicial cases)
It makes me think how humanity allowed that huge parasite surviving that long?

Facebook is Slave Training.

On Facebook, the Slaves get valuable, continuous conditioning on how to survive in a Panopticon where the rules are never clearly defined.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panopticon

"...the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched motivates them to act as though they are all being watched at all times. They are effectively compelled to self-regulation. "

If you study History long enough, you will eventually discover that earth has been a Slave Planet for more than 5,000 years.

Like a Texas Cattle Ranch, it is designed to extract sustenance from the Cattle so the Rancher doesn't need to work.

Slavery Technology has evolved and improved tremendously over the centuries, but the basic premise remains the same.

Remember: The BEST Slaves are those who *Don't Even Know* they are Slaves.
